What does it mean to be resourceful?
Share
Adopting resourceful habits is a big part of living sustainably. We can be resourceful by limiting any consumption beyond what we need, and by using what we already have, first. Being resourceful doesn’t always necessarily mean limiting yourself though; it can be about choosing differently, or mindfully.
Being resourceful takes creativity and finding multiple uses for every day things. At Spruce we are proud to be resourceful in all ways we can, including: repurposing clothing scraps into usable goods, supporting sustainable clothing, offering jar returns, providing long lasting goods, choosing items made close to home, and one of our favourite resourceful stories— Cans for the Van!
Don’t know where to start your resourceful journey of adding more sustainability into your life? Here’s some ways to get started!
-Take in returnables for refund
-Integrate second-hand clothing into your closet
-Participate in clothing or stuff swaps
-Shop small and intentional
-Choose quality over quantity
-Use a reusable coffee mug or water bottle everyday
-Consider shampoo and conditioner bars for your hair
-If you prefer liquid soap/shampoo/conditioner consider a refillable option from Shallon Naturals and Refilery in Brentwood Bay
-Reuse your cleaned sauce jars or other kinds of glass jars as drink cup, or as a great way to store meals on the go.
-Challenge yourself to eat what you have first by getting creative in the kitchen.
Hope you feel inspired by this!
Have fun getting resourceful :)
